Using the freehand grid formation as her subject and trademark starting base, Hannah Maskell is able to launch straight into a drawing and enjoy the way in which a medium is applied, colours have a dialogue and lines create rhythm and balance within the composition.
Her wall-based and freestanding sculptural works extend the grid forms to three-dimensions, furthering the varied ways in which the seemingly rudimentary grid can be constructed as explorations into geometric form, shape, as well as line and colour.
Broken Record brings into focus a cosmic and repetitive line laying, colour landing exploration of the grid across the dimensions.
